670 Mile Hike - Scotland's South Tip to North Tip

Jaime had planned a route which combined a number of trails running from the southern point at Mull of Galloway to the northern point at Dunnet Head by John O Groats. All together it's 670 miles and took him 5 and a half weeks hiking 20 - 30 mile days winding through some of the UK's most isolated lands.

It takes in these trails:

Mull of Galloway Trail
Loch Ryan Coastal Path
Ayrshire Coastal Path
Kintyre Way
Cowal Way
West Highland Way
Cape Wrath Trail
NORTH HIGHLAND WAY

He has wild camped in bothies on grass etc but once a week he had a rest day with a bed and shower. He got his drinking water from streams which he filtered or sterilised. He used a satellite communicator which allowed him to communicate when there's no mobile signal. It also allowed his family and friends to track him. He navigated with map and compass and documenting the trip on a go pro style camera. He tried to be as lightweight as he could but the pack was still pretty heavy. He said that he felt a bit nervy about this one, but he thought he would be alright once he got going!

Whilst I walked parts of the way with Jamie I thought of a nickname for him and I came up with Mr Zipper. This comes from when he went on the Zip Line near Durness and the speed that he goes at.

Once  he's recovered he will be creating a documentary video of his walk and making it available online.
